They know the price increase won't deter much of anybody. They're focused on how much more money they can bring in for the city and redistribute how they see fit, most likely into their own pockets.
Hmmm another tax increase because…..we can. How many people drive to another state just to avoid the tax?
State needs more revenue? Cut state all workers income by 20%. That might help the state coffers.
If they want to deter smoking ban tobacco all together.
People would rather smoke than eat. They'll spend their last dime on those things.
All that will do is increase sales out of Minneapolis like they did this before charging more for menthol cigarettes and all that happened was sales for menthol cigarettes went down and people would just go else where and seniors were packing the busses to the casinos.
Considering how bad smoking is for the individual, I can’t bring myself to care all that much. Sorry you have to drive into the next county for an affordable pack of smokes? 🤷🏻♀️
