NORTHEAST OF MILNER, N.D. — We now have confirmation on what appears to be an accidental shooting northeast of Milner, North Dakota, near the Hooerai Colony.

Sargent County Sheriff tells TRF News a man was shot while trapping on a slough. The person who fired the shot was using a thermal scope on a rifle. That individual told law enforcement he believed he was shooting at a coyote.

The latest information the sheriff had was that the victim was hospitalized.

Where it happened

Sheriff Paper is with Sargent County, which sits just south of the Ransom County line. The sheriff says the actual shooting occurred in Ransom County.
