Michael (Mike) Leroy Olson, 69, Circle Pines, MN, passed away in his home on May 24, 2024, under hospice care from complications of treatment for lung cancer.
An open house celebration of life will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday August 10th at the Alvarado Community Center, 135 Marshall St., Alvarado, MN.
Mike was born in Warren, MN on October 22, 1954, to Myron and Arlys (Erickson) Olson and grew up in Alvarado, MN, where he graduated high school in 1972.
Mike went on to marry Becky Holter on November 16, 1973, and had two children, Nicholas and Brittany. They lived in Alvarado, MN until moving to Oslo, MN in 1977 where Mike worked at the Oslo Elevator. In 1985 they moved to Alsen, ND where Mike managed the Alsen Elevator and later moved in 1989 to Cooperstown, ND, where Mike managed the Cooperstown Elevator. In 1998, Mike, Becky, and Brittany moved to Rogers, MN where Mike lived out most of his life.
Mike is survived by his son Nicholas (Patty) Olson and grandchildren Braxton and Alexis Olson of Bismarck, ND; and his daughter Brittany Olson (Shawn) and granddaughter Lilyana of Hibbing, MN. Sister, Bonnie Boman of Thief River Falls, MN; brothers Darrell (Cherryl) of Sioux Falls, SD; Wally (Nancy) of Grand Forks, ND; Scott of St Pauls, NC; James (Diane) of Grand Forks, ND; and sister-in-law Mary Olson of East Grand Forks, MN. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, his stepfather Gary Anderson (Judy) of Grand Forks, ND; and his girlfriend Diane Horton of Circle Pines, MN.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Rick, two nephews Darin and Brad Olson and brother-in-law John Boman.
Mike will be buried at Oaklawn Cemetery in Alvarado.
