CROOKSTON (trfnews.i234.me) https://trfnews.i234.me – A Mentor man is facing multiple charges in Polk County after police say methamphetamine and marijuana were found in a vehicle stopped near Riverside/Wildflower Garden Park in Crookston.

According to court documents, Matthew Jon Volker, 39, has been charged with third-degree controlled substance crime – possession in a prohibited zone and second-degree driving while impaired – controlled substance.

Police say the incident occurred on July 29, 2025, when officers stopped a Chevrolet Impala for traffic violations within 300 feet of Riverside/Wildflower Garden Park. Volker was allegedly driving the vehicle, with two passengers also inside. During the stop, officers reported finding methamphetamine, marijuana, prescription stimulants, and drug paraphernalia inside the car.

Authorities say Volker admitted to having marijuana in the vehicle and showed signs of drug impairment. He later provided a blood sample after a warrant was issued.

Court records show Volker has prior convictions for drug and driving offenses. The felony charge carries a potential 20-year prison sentence and a $250,000 fine, while the gross misdemeanor DWI charge carries up to 364 days in jail and a $3,000 fine.
