Stewart, McLeod County (trfnews.i234.me) – A collision involving a suspected intoxicated driver resulted in multiple injuries Saturday evening on U.S. Highway 212 at Bowman Street in Stewart.

According to authorities, a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 70-year-old Randal Charles Kalenberg of Stewart was traveling eastbound when it collided with a westbound 2020 Toyota RAV4. Kalenberg was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt and had alcohol involvement. He sustained non-life-threatening injuries but was not transported to a hospital.

The RAV4 was operated by 79-year-old John Frederick Hartjes of Springfield, who was uninjured. His 75-year-old wife, Marleen Tauer Hartjes, was transported to Glencoe Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. An 11-year-old male passenger in the vehicle was unharmed.

Roads were wet at the time of the crash. Responding agencies included the McLeod County Sheriff’s Office, Stewart Fire, and Buffalo Lake Ambulance.
