MONTICELLO, MN (trfnews.i234.me) — On Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at approximately 11:11 a.m., a significant collision occurred on eastbound Interstate 94 at mile marker 196 in Monticello, Wright County. A 2013 Volvo semi-truck driven by 58-year-old Peter Andrzej Derezinski of Chicago, IL, and a 2007 Freightliner semi-truck driven by 47-year-old Aden Sahid Haji of Eden Prairie, MN, collided, causing both vehicles to slide into the north ditch and strike an embankment. The trucks came to rest in a jackknife position.
Both drivers sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to CentraCare Hospital for treatment. Road conditions were wet at the time of the crash, and both drivers were wearing seat belts. Alcohol was not a factor in the incident.
Responding agencies included the Wright County Sheriff’s Office, Allina Ambulance, CentraCare, and the Monticello Fire Department.

Jackknife accidents, where a trailer swings out from behind the cab, are particularly dangerous and often result from sudden braking or slippery road conditions. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) reports that such incidents are a leading cause of severe injuries in semi-truck accidents.
