Man Killed in Crookston Use-of-Force Incident Identified

Crookston, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – The man killed in a use-of-force incident in Crookston has been identified as 44-year-old Christopher Junkin, who died of multiple gunshot wounds on June 30.

The Minnesota BCA has identified the law enforcement officers involved in the incident. Crookston police officer Nick Fladland deployed his Taser and fired his handgun, Officer Corey Rich deployed his Taser, and Polk County deputy April Hansen deployed a chemical irritant and her Taser.

Officers and deputies responded to reports of men fighting at a homeless shelter. Junkin was combative toward officers and did not follow their verbal commands. Tasers and pepper spray were deployed first before Officer Fladland fired his weapon.
