EAST GRAND FORKS, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – Early this Friday morning, a dramatic police chase ended with a man jumping into the Red River in East Grand Forks. At approximately 2:09 a.m., Grand Forks Police responded to a potential domestic disturbance at 400 Deur Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered that the suspect, identified as John Prula, had fled on foot across the Sorlie Bridge into East Grand Forks.

Despite orders to stop, Prula continued to evade police and ultimately jumped into the Red River, swimming northbound. The Grand Forks Fire Department, Regional Water Rescue, and Altru Health Systems were dispatched to assist in the search. Prula was located using drones from the Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) team and was taken into custody by East Grand Forks Police without further incident.

No injuries were reported, and Prula was evaluated by Altru Health Systems. The incident has concluded with no ongoing threat to the public.
