Man & Dog Die, Crash Into Slough Near Rollag, Minnesota


ROLLAG, MN (trfnews.i234.me) A man and his dog died after his vehicle crashed into a slough near Rollag, Minnesota.
A man and his dog died after driving into a slew near Roolog, Minnesota. This from Klay County Sheriff Mark Empting on September 2nd, 10:15 a.m. They were informed a male had left his rural Pelican Rapids home the night before and his destination was the area of the Western Minnesota Steam Thrasher Reunion in Rollok. Deputies were informed the male was traveling in a red Jeep Wrangler with his dog. The male they were searching for was identified as Richard Evenson. Klay County and Ottertale County deputies began searching the area between the male’s residence and ROG to try and locate him. Uh we were also informed the male’s family was searching for him as well. At approximately 12:36 p.m. they were informed a vehicle was in a slew in the 11,000 block of 280th Street South, which is southeast of Roolog. Deputies arrived at the location and observed what be to what was believed to be a vehicle submerged underwater approximately 25 ft from the roadway. Valley Water Rescue was contacted to respond to the scene to assist with the removal of the vehicle. Once the vehicle was removed, it was found to be a red Jeep Wrangler that deputies and family were searching for. The vehicle was occupied by a deceased adult male and dog. The male was identified as Richard Evenson, 66 years old, from Pelican Rapids. Evenson was transported to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy, and the dog was transported back to uh Evansson’s residence at the request of the family.
