Pennington County (trfnews.i234.me): Man Cited for Gas Theft in Thief River Falls
A Thief River Falls man has been cited for theft of motor fuel following a report from a local gas station late last month.
According to the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office, deputies received a report of a theft at Northdale Petro Pumper on September 24.
The report indicated that a customer allegedly left the station without paying for fuel.
The suspect, identified as 20-year-old Brent James Wesala of Thief River Falls, was cited for theft of motor fuel from a retailer.
According to the citation, Wesala allegedly failed to pay for $25.15 worth of gasoline.
No further details were released about the incident, and it is unclear whether the fuel was later recovered or paid for after the citation was issued.
The sheriff’s office reminds residents that theft of fuel is considered a criminal offense under Minnesota law, regardless of the amount.
Repeat offenders can face higher fines or additional penalties.
Business owners experiencing fuel theft or drive-offs are encouraged to contact law enforcement or the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension for assistance with reporting and prevention strategies.
