Pennington County (trfnews.i234.me): Man Cited for Damage at TRF Wastewater Site
A Thief River Falls man has been cited for fourth-degree property damage after allegedly damaging public land near the city’s Wastewater Treatment Ponds.
According to the Thief River Falls Police Department, officers received a report on September 27 about possible vandalism at the bird viewing site near the city’s Wastewater Treatment Ponds.
Surveillance footage reportedly showed a pickup truck at the location around 3:11 p.m. that same day.
Soon after the truck was seen, fresh ruts and skid marks were discovered in the area, indicating the vehicle had spun or slid across the grass and soil.
Police identified the driver as 21-year-old Landin Andrew Robinette of Thief River Falls.
He has been cited for fourth-degree property damage in connection with the incident.
Officials say the damage caused unnecessary repair work and disrupted part of the bird-viewing site, which is frequented by residents and visitors.
City staff have since repaired the damaged ground.
The City of Thief River Falls encourages the public to respect park and viewing areas to help preserve shared natural spaces.
Intentional damage to public property can lead to criminal charges, fines, and restitution costs under Minnesota Statute § 609.595.
No further details about the incident have been released.
