Gross misdemeanor fifth degree controlled substance crime and fourth degree driving while impaired
On Nov. 16 at 7:17 a.m., police received a report that it appeared a man was passed out in an idling van with the door ajar in the parking lot of Edgewood Apartments, 1236 Edgewood Dr.
John Anthony Monreal, 30, Thief River Falls, has been charged with gross misdemeanor fifth degree controlled substance crime and two counts of fourth degree DWI. He was arrested.
Police found Monreal sleeping and slouched down in his seat. He allegedly had slowed, slurred speech, and he was difficult to understand.
The complaint alleged that Monreal admitted smoking methamphetamine Nov. 15 and taking Xanax on Nov. 13.
He possessed a pipe commonly used to smoke meth and a prescription bottle containing six Xanax pills. The prescription bottle featured Monreal’s name, but it didn’t contain the right prescription.
