Man Airlifted After Falling from Tree Stand Near Hankinson
HANKINSON, ND ( trfnews.i234.me ) — A 56-year-old man was airlifted to a Fargo hospital Sunday evening after falling from a tree stand in the Hankinson Sand Hills area of Richland County.
According to the Richland County Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened around 6:03 p.m. on Sunday when dispatch received a call reporting that a man had fallen while setting up a tree stand in the southern part of the Sand Hills. The victim was reported to be in pain and having difficulty breathing.
Emergency responders from the Hankinson Fire Department and Hankinson Ambulance were dispatched to the scene, along with deputies from the Richland County Sheriff’s Office. Due to the man’s condition and the remote location, Sanford AirMed was called in to provide air transport.
The victim was rescued from the wooded area and airlifted to a Fargo hospital for treatment of his injuries. His current condition has not been released.
Authorities are reminding hunters and outdoor enthusiasts always to use proper safety equipment when setting up or climbing tree stands. Tree stand falls are one of the leading causes of serious hunting-related injuries each year.
