Mahnomen (trfnews.i234.me) — A Mahnomen County traffic stop has led to a gross misdemeanor charge against Yarrow Kelley Korf, according to a criminal complaint filed in Minnesota District Court.

Court records say Korf, 47, of Hovland, Minnesota, was charged with driving after cancellation inimical to public safety. The charge stems from a traffic stop on February 2, 2025, in Mahnomen County.

Traffic Stop on Highway 200

According to the complaint, an officer was on patrol at about 11:45 a.m. on State Highway 200. The officer saw an eastbound vehicle that appeared to be moving faster than the posted 55 mph speed limit.

The complaint says radar showed the vehicle was traveling 66 mph. The officer then turned around and made a traffic stop.

During the stop, the driver was identified as Yarrow Kelley Korf. The complaint says Korf told the officer that his driver’s license was suspended. When asked why, he said it was tied to multiple DWI offenses.

License Status Checked

Authorities say a records check was then completed. That check showed Korf’s driving status had been canceled as inimical to public safety.

Under Minnesota Statute 171.24, driving after that kind of cancellation can lead to a gross misdemeanor charge.

The complaint says Korf was arrested at the scene and taken to the Mahnomen County Sheriff’s Office for booking. Records state he was later released to a passenger in the vehicle, who was also listed as the registered owner.

What the Charge Means

Driving after cancellation inimical to public safety is treated more seriously than a standard license issue. In Minnesota, that status is often tied to prior alcohol-related driving history or other public safety concerns.

A gross misdemeanor in Minnesota can carry up to 364 days in jail and a fine of up to $3,000 if there is a conviction. More details about Minnesota criminal cases can be found through the Minnesota Judicial Branch.

The charge against Korf remains an allegation at this stage. A complaint sets out the facts that prosecutors believe support the case. Guilt or innocence is decided later in court.
