Mahnomen County, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – A late-night traffic stop has led to serious charges for Scott Edward Warren, 45, of Mahnomen, who is now facing three gross misdemeanor charges stemming from a DWI while under the influence of methamphetamine and marijuana.

Around 3:20 a.m. on December 15, 2024, White Earth Officer Lane West stopped Warren on Jefferson Avenue for expired registration. Upon contact, the officer noticed signs of drug impairment, including rapid speech and watery eyes. Warren admitted to using marijuana that day and meth two days prior.

Field sobriety tests showed multiple indicators of impairment, and a search of the vehicle uncovered used hypodermic needles. Warren’s license was also found to be canceled as inimical to public safety, with prior DWI convictions from 2015 (ND) and 2016 (MN).

Warren was charged with:

  • 2nd Degree DWI – Controlled Substance

  • 3rd Degree DWI – Controlled Substance

  • Driving After Cancellation – IPS

He faces up to 364 days in jail and/or $3,000 in fines for each charge.
