Marsh Creek Township, Mahnomen County (trfnews.i234.me) – A fatal head-on collision occurred on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at 1:53 p.m. on U.S. Highway 59 at milepost 303.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a 2020 Western Star dump truck, driven by Christopher John Solmon, 56, of Detroit Lakes, was traveling southbound when it collided head-on with a 2000 Ford Explorer traveling north.
The Explorer was driven by Jerry Andrew Redden, 33, of Thief River Falls, who was pronounced dead at the scene. His seat belt usage and alcohol involvement remain unknown. The truck driver was uninjured and not transported for medical care.
Road conditions were dry, and agencies assisting included the Mahnomen County Sheriff’s Office, White Earth Police, and Mahnomen Fire.
