Mahnomen County (trfnews.i234.me) — A Moorhead man is facing multiple criminal charges following a chase on August 5 in Mahnomen County.

Court records show the incident began near a local casino. Officers attempted a pit maneuver in the parking lot, but it failed. The suspect drove onto private property, damaging a yard before fleeing on foot.

Authorities quickly located and arrested the suspect. According to the criminal complaint, he admitted to using a “speedball” earlier that day — a mix of methamphetamine and heroin.

The man has been identified as 31-year-old Jovan Michael Gagnon of Moorhead. He is charged with felony fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle, gross misdemeanor damage to property, and two misdemeanor counts — DWI and fleeing on foot.

No injuries were reported in the incident. The damaged property was in a residential area near the casino. Officials did not release an estimated repair cost.

Felony fleeing charges in Minnesota can carry significant prison time and fines. According to the Minnesota Office of the Revisor of Statutes, penalties may include up to three years in prison and fines up to $5,000. Gross misdemeanor property damage charges can result in up to one year in jail and a $3,000 fine.

The case remains under review. Court hearings are expected to be scheduled in the coming weeks.
