Mahnomen County (https://trfnews.i234.me) – A 43-year-old Ponsford man is facing a felony drug possession charge after allegedly dropping a meth pipe and drug paraphernalia on the floor at Shooting Star Casino in Mahnomen County.
According to a criminal complaint, on October 2, 2024, surveillance footage showed William Brandon Annette sitting at a gaming machine when he pulled his hand from his pocket and dropped a hard plastic case near his chair. He briefly left the area before returning to play another machine nearby.
Casino maintenance staff later noticed the case and turned it over to security, who contacted Sgt. Peter Drift, Jr., with the White Earth Police Department.
Upon opening the eyeglasses-style case, police discovered:
-
A yellow snorter straw
-
A glass pipe
-
Four small baggies—one containing .606 grams of methamphetamine and others with residue
Lab analysis from the Minnesota BCA confirmed the substance was meth.
Annette, who has three prior convictions for 5th-degree drug offenses (in Becker, Mahnomen, and Clay Counties), now faces:
-
Count I: Fifth-Degree Drug Possession (Felony)
– Maximum penalty: 5 years in prison, $10,000 fine, or both
A summons has been issued for his appearance in Mahnomen County District Court.
