Mahnomen County (trfnews.i234.me) A 22-year-old Bagley man is facing four charges after a late-night disturbance and alleged break-in in Mahnomen, according to a criminal complaint filed in Mahnomen County District Court.

Charges Filed In Mahnomen County

Prosecutors charged Kainon Miles Arthur, born July 10, 2003, with first-degree burglary, second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon, third-degree property damage, and misdemeanor trespass.

The complaint says the case stems from events on March 17, 2026, in Mahnomen County. Arthur is accused of entering a dwelling without permission, assaulting a person with a knife, damaging vehicle tires, and later entering another property without consent.

What The Complaint Says Happened

According to court records, law enforcement first responded at about 10:19 p.m. to a disturbance at Park Terrace Apartments in Mahnomen. Arthur and Alisea Hanks were present during that call. Hanks said the argument was verbal.

Arthur then asked for a ride to a home on West Madison Avenue. He reportedly said he was related to people living there. Court records state he was dropped off there at about 10:45 p.m.

About 14 minutes later, a 911 caller reported that a male had threatened him with a knife and slashed all four tires on a vehicle outside the same residence. The caller also said he believed the suspect had been inside the basement.

The complaint says Larry Clark told authorities he left his bedroom after hearing someone in the basement. He then saw Arthur holding a butcher knife. Clark said Arthur chased him and ordered him back into the bedroom. Clark then called 911.

Investigators later found puncture marks on all four tires of Clark’s vehicle. Court records say the residents, William Antell and Clark, told authorities Arthur did not have permission to enter or remain in the home.

Evidence Listed By Prosecutors

According to the complaint, investigators found a business card in the basement that had been given to Arthur earlier that night. Authorities say that detail conflicted with Arthur’s statement that he had not been in the basement.

Later, at about 11:30 p.m., Arthur was found in the backyard of a business property on East Jefferson Avenue. The complaint says that property had no trespassing signs posted. During a search, authorities reportedly found a black folding knife in his pants pocket.

After being taken to the sheriff’s office, Arthur spoke with investigators. Court records say he denied threatening Clark, denied damaging the tires, and denied being in the basement. He also gave a preliminary breath test. The complaint lists the result as 0.204.

Potential Penalties

The most serious count, first-degree burglary, carries a possible sentence of more than one year and up to 20 years in prison, a fine of up to $35,000, or both. The second-degree assault charge also carries prison time if convicted.

All charges remain allegations. Arthur is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court. Case information can be found through the Minnesota Judicial Branch. Minnesota statutes tied to the case include burglary law, assault law, property damage law, and trespass law.
