Clay County (trfnews.i234.me) — A Moorhead, Minnesota man is facing a felony assault charge after allegedly attacking another driver with a machete during a road rage incident.

According to court records, Abdirahman Sulub of Moorhead has been charged with felony second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon following the confrontation on November 1st.

Police say the incident began on Interstate 94 as both vehicles traveled from Fargo into Moorhead. The victim reported that Sulub was making obscene gestures and repeatedly flipping them off while driving.

When the victim arrived home and pulled into their Moorhead driveway, they exited their vehicle and asked Sulub, “What’s your problem?” Sulub allegedly responded, “You want to die today?” before grabbing a machete and striking the victim’s car, shattering the passenger-side window.

The victim quickly got back into their vehicle and called the police. Officers later arrested Sulub, who was taken into custody and charged in Clay County District Court.

No injuries were reported, but authorities described the attack as a serious and deliberate act of aggression. The charge carries a potential prison sentence of up to seven years and a fine of up to $14,000 under Minnesota Statute §609.222.
