LYONS TWP, Lyon County — Six Juveniles & Two Adults Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash on Hwy 23

LYONS TOWNSHIP, Lyon County (trfnews.i234.me) — A serious two-vehicle crash occurred around 12:33 p.m. on March 28, 2025, involving a 2008 Ford Escape and a 2007 Chrysler Town & Country, both traveling northbound on Highway 23 near 220th Street.

The drivers were identified as:

  • Shelby Maxine Korman, 19, of Lynd, MN (Ford Escape)

  • Christie Lynn Wieme, 42, of Balaton, MN (Chrysler Town & Country)

Both were wearing seat belts, airbags deployed, and both sustained non-life-threatening injuries, transported to Marshall Regional Medical Center.

The Chrysler was carrying five juvenile male passengers (ages 5, 7, 9, 12, and 14), all from Balaton and Tyler, MN. All boys were injured, seat-belted, and transported with non-life-threatening injuries to the same hospital.

Roads were dry, and no alcohol was involved.

Responding units included Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, Lynd Fire, North Ambulance, and Balaton Ambulance.
