Lorene Sprandel passed away peacefully on June 11, 2024, in Los Gatos, California, at age 97. Her family was with her. Lorene and her siblings, Marietta, Burt, Ross, and Leland, were born in North Dakota to her parents, Einar and Ruth Ophaug. Lorene had a full, rich life. She was raised on the family farm in McVille, ND, and after high school moved to California for new exciting opportunities. She received her registered nursing degree from Franklin Hospital in San Francisco and worked in nursing at Letterman Army Hospital. She married Martin Sprandel and soon after began their family raising four children. Lorene was proud to be a nurse, and she loved sewing, gardening, and caring for those around her. After Martin passed away in 2005, she moved to Los Gatos to be closer to her family. She is survived by her children, Shelley, Greg (Theresa), Diane (Gerald), and Kurt; her grandchildren, Nicole, Kara, Devon, and Adam; her great-grandchildren, Gianna, Brielle, and Maverik; and her brother, Leland.
