LISBON, N.D. (trfnews.i234.me) — A Lisbon, North Dakota man, Hunter Mairs, 31, was given a suspended sentence after threatening to kill his father over nitrous oxide, also known as laughing gas. Mairs pleaded guilty to four charges, including terrorizing, simple assault, interference with an emergency call, and drug paraphernalia.

The court sentenced Mairs to a year in jail but suspended the sentence after he served 14 days, placing him on two years of supervised probation. Additionally, he must undergo a chemical dependency evaluation.

Court records indicate Mairs had been causing disturbances in the family home for weeks due to his use of marijuana, Adderall, and nitrous oxide. His parents also discovered a pistol on their couch, adding to their concerns. Mairs’ arrest came in late August after the escalating situation.
