BEMIDJI, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – In the early hours of Monday morning, a fire erupted in the attached garage of a home in Liberty Township, located just north of Bemidji. At 2:04 a.m., the Bemidji Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire on the 13000 block of Beaver Lodge Lane. Upon arrival, firefighters were met with heavy smoke billowing from the single-story residence’s garage.
Acting quickly, the team deployed a 1 3/4-inch handline to battle the intense flames. Additional crews soon joined the effort, helping to extinguish the fire and conduct overhaul operations. The fire, which caused significant damage to the garage and its contents, was contained before it could inflict severe damage on the rest of the home.
Twenty-four firefighters and 10 pieces of equipment were on the scene for approximately two hours. While the fire is still under investigation, it is believed to be accidental. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Assisting at the scene were the Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office, Bemidji Ambulance Service, Solway Fire Department, and Beltrami Electric.
