Leonard Brossart, 78, passed away Monday, April 14, 2025 at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Fergus Falls.
Leonard was born March 23, 1947 in Rugby, ND. He was the first of 11 children born to Frank & Julia (Jundt) Brossart. Leonard graduated from high school in Knox, ND.
After high school, he enlisted in the US Army with military training in WA and CA, and Special Forces training in NC and GA. He achieved Green Beret status and was active duty in Vietnam for an 18-month tour as a Paratrooper. He was honorably discharged as a Sargeant, having served for three years.
Leonard lived in Grand Forks, ND, attended UND and later moved to Alaska. He enjoyed the outdoors of Alaska with his dogs, gold mining, hunting and fishing while working part-time as a school custodian. He returned to North Dakota in 2020 and was admitted to the MN Veterans Home in Fergus Falls in 2024.
Leonard is survived by his brother, Ron (Diane) Brossart; sisters, Marge Wolf, Veronica (Steve) Moen, Sharon (Al) Finnie, Sheila (Mike) Lamé, Viola (Bob) Keller, Marie (Dave) Braaten, Nita (Wayne) Molesworth; sister-in-law, Denise Vaagen; Uncle Frank Keller, many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank & Julia; brothers, Edward and Francis; brother-in-law, Robert Wolf and his special companion dogs.
