Latest news on Rams WR for Week 8

Cooper Kupp is set to make his long-awaited return to the field on Thursday night when the Los Angeles Rams face the Minnesota Vikings at home. It’ll be Kupp’s first game since he sprained his ankle in Week 2, sidelining him for the last four games.

Sean McVay said after the Rams’ win over the Raiders on Sunday that Kupp was “close” to playing in that game but the team decided to hold him out a bit longer, knowing he wasn’t 100% healthy.

Cooper Kupp injury update

McVay provided more information on Kupp’s status Monday, reiterating that the Pro Bowl receiver is expected to play and the Rams are “definitely excited to have him back.”

He said Kupp’s workload against the Vikings is “to be determined,” indicating that he may not play his usual share of snaps in his first game back. The Rams are putting together a game plan now and will “have a better feel” for Kupp’s workload as the week progresses.

Rams WR depth chart

WR1: Cooper Kupp
WR2: Demarcus Robinson/Tyler Johnson
WR3: Tutu Atwell/Jordan Whittington
WR4: Xavier Smith

It’s hard to know how the snaps will break down at wide receiver when Kupp returns. Robinson and Johnson played the most snaps at the position on Sunday, earning a 91% snap share against the Raiders. Atwell remains involved but Whittington only played nine snaps due to a lingering shoulder injury.
