Cavalier County (trfnews.i234.me) — Authorities are investigating an incident where a bear was chased and fatally shot near Langdon, North Dakota, on Friday, May 9, 2025. A video circulating in the area shows a vehicle pursuing the bear for several feet before shots are allegedly fired.
Cavalier County Sheriff Matt Wright confirmed that shots were fired at the bear but did not provide details on how the bear died. The North Dakota Game and Fish Department has taken over the investigation. Paul Freeman, a Game and Fish officer based in Devils Lake, stated that the investigation is ongoing and will be handed over to the state’s attorney upon completion for a decision on potential charges. A decision is expected next week.
