Lake of the Woods, a popular destination for fishermen and boaters in Minnesota, is approaching a record-high water level set more than 70 years ago. The lake surface level was reported to be 1063.2 feet on Monday, less than a foot below the record of 1064 feet set in July 1950. The Canadian body regulating the lake’s water level, the Lake of the Woods Control Board, reported that the lake rose two inches during the past week and is expected to rise by up to three inches this week. Public boat ramps and resorts remain open but are adjusting to near-record high water levels. The webcam at Arneson’s Resort shows the lake slowly rising. The cause of the high water level is heavy rainfall and snowmelt in the region, which has increased the water inflow into the lake. The rising water level can cause damage to properties and infrastructure along the lake. The Lake of the Woods Control Board is monitoring the situation and is expected to take necessary measures to prevent potential damage.

  1. I think increased precipitation caused it, but I'll blame Trump and Global Ice Ice age fears in the 70's, global warming in the 80's, then the umbrella climate changes in the 2000's.

Wonder why the climates on other planets have been changing too. Must be cow farts and human activity on earth. Hope small islands don't flip over with too many people living on them either. I need more green Kool aid

  2. Climate change is a Hoax, yeah n I was in S.D, during the flood 10yrs ago, big deal, Antarctica has thawed n froze 37times discovered by core drilling, if anything ,its Weather Modifications, their practicing to keep up with China , pushing n pulling Oxygen from Hurricanes and things like that, its no secret that China is ahead of us by 20yrs already!! Iran is screaming that the U.S is shutting their rain off. Just like China, that is up wind from us is doing . Its like putting matches in little kids hands. I will tell u this , THE FISH ARE biting at Lake of the Woods
