LAKE COUNTY, MN — Honda CRV Rolls on Icy Highway 61, Passenger Hospitalized

LAKE COUNTY, MN (trfnews.i234.me) — On March 28, 2025, at 4:26 p.m., a 2001 Honda CRV traveling southbound on Highway 61, just north of Little Marias Road, lost control due to snow and ice, crossed into the northbound lane, rolled, and struck a telephone pole.

  • Driver: Emma Rose Mathews, 28, of Saint Paul, MN, was wearing a seat belt and escaped injury.

  • Passenger: Julia Hope Nellessen, 30, of Minneapolis, was also belted but sustained a non-life-threatening injury and was transported to Essentia Duluth.

Emergency response was provided by Lake County EMS, Lake County Rescue, Silver Bay Fire Department, and the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

Alcohol was not involved, and airbags were deployed.
