KITTSON COUNTY ( TRF News ) — The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating an apparent shooting death early Saturday morning just west of Karlstad in far northwest Minnesota.

According to early information, the incident happened around 1:00 a.m. at a residence along Highway 11. Unconfirmed reports suggest a resident may have confronted an intruder, but officials have not released any confirmed details.

Law enforcement sources say the Minnesota BCA was called to the scene to assist local authorities in processing evidence. A chief deputy from Kittson County confirmed that, as of 6:30 a.m. Saturday, no one was in custody in connection with the case.

Authorities are expected to release additional information later today as the investigation develops. The identity of the person who died and the circumstances surrounding the shooting have not yet been released.

TRF News will continue to update this story as more details become available.
