KETTLE RIVER, Minn. (trfnews.i234.me) – A drunk driver is accused of destroying a parked car in Kettle River before attempting to flee on foot.
The crash, caught on a security camera, shows the driver plowing into a parked vehicle with significant force. The impact left the parked car severely damaged, with debris scattered near the roadway.
Authorities say the driver abandoned the pickup truck after the crash and attempted to escape through nearby woods. Tire tracks from the pickup were visible leading away from the scene.
The suspect did not get far and was soon taken into custody. Officials confirmed the individual was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.
Formal charges are expected to be filed later. The Carlton County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate.
This incident adds to growing concerns about impaired driving in rural Minnesota communities. According to the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, alcohol-related crashes account for more than one-quarter of all traffic deaths in the state each year.
More details, including the suspect’s identity and official charges, are expected to be released later today.
