Dickinson, ND – The search continues for Keith William Schmidt, 53, who was last seen on May 20, 2024, in Dickinson, North Dakota. Schmidt, described as 5’9” tall, 140 pounds, with long brown hair and green eyes, was captured on surveillance video leaving his residence on foot at 6:03 a.m. on the morning of his disappearance.

Despite ongoing efforts by the Dickinson Police Department, no significant leads have been uncovered since his disappearance, leaving family and friends desperate for answers. Authorities have not ruled out foul play and are keeping certain aspects of the investigation confidential.

Timeline Leading to Disappearance

  • May 10-13, 2024: Schmidt spent time at his father’s farm in Watford City, which was not unusual. However, before leaving, he told his father he would not be returning the following weekend, which was out of character.
  • May 19, 2024: Schmidt put his trash out for pickup two days early, a break from his usual routine.
  • May 20, 2024 – 5:56 AM: He texted friend Kodi Meduna saying, “Sorry, been busy.”
  • May 20, 2024 – 6:03 AM: Last seen on residential surveillance footage outside his home, facing north.
  • May 20, 2024, and Beyond: Schmidt was reported missing by friends at Bernie’s Esquire Club, a social spot he frequented, when he failed to show up in town.

Unanswered Questions and Missing Items

  • Schmidt’s vehicles, cellphone, and belongings were left at his home.
  • His job notebook is missing, which contained details about his work and possibly personal matters.
  • He did not finish or bill for scheduled flooring jobs, unusual given his meticulous nature.
