KITTSON COUNTY, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – Earlier this week, we reported that 36-year-old Ashley Bothum of Karlstad, Minnesota, was charged with burglary and theft related to an incident at a Hallock Eye Clinic where she was employed. Authorities cracked that case using hidden security cameras. Now, Bothum is facing additional charges in a separate case. Court documents reveal that she has been charged with two felony counts of check forgery, possession or sale of a counterfeit check, and gross misdemeanor theft.
The new charges stem from a search warrant executed at Bothum’s residence, where authorities discovered a checkbook belonging to a Newfolden man. The man reported that the checkbook, along with $800 in cash, had been stolen from his vehicle at Lake Bronson. Bothum is accused of forging the man’s signature on the stolen checks, totaling $2,300, to obtain cash for herself.
