MINNEAPOLIS (trfnews.i234.me) – A dramatic turn in a high-profile case has seen Taylor Schultz, accused of brutally killing 66-year-old Robert Skafte at his workplace, declared fit to stand trial.
Skafte, who worked as a clerk at Oak Grove Grocery in Minneapolis’ Loring Park neighborhood, was beaten and impaled with a golf club on December 6, 2023. The victim later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
Schultz, 44, had initially been deemed incompetent for court proceedings after officials revealed details of his court-ordered psychological evaluation. However, following further assessments, a Hennepin County judge has now ruled that Schultz is fit to stand trial.
The suspect was arrested without incident nearly six hours after barricading himself inside a nearby apartment following the killing. He faces charges of second-degree murder in connection with Skafte’s death.
Schultz’s next court hearing is scheduled for October 15, as he prepares to face justice for his alleged crimes. The investigation into this shocking case continues to unfold. The community remains shaken by the brutal nature of Skafte’s killing and the subsequent events that followed.
