Judith Marie Jiskra, affectionately known as Judy passed away on April 10th, 2024 in Altru hospital in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Judy was born to Louise (Lambrecht) and Raymond Coulthart on May 24th, 1940 in Grafton, North Dakota. She was a beacon of light and warmth in the community she dearly loved.
Judy is survived by her sisters LuRae (Dennis) Erickson, Rosalee (Howard) Wendelbo and Serene (Bob) App. After graduating from St Thomas High School, she married her beloved John (Julian) Jiskra in a beautiful ceremony in Grafton North Dakota in February of 1962 marking the beginning of a shared life filled with 44 years of love and devotion.
Pre-deceased by her parents and her brothers Ronald and Gerald, Judy’s husband passed away in 2006.
Judy’s love extended to her three children, Theresa (Terry) Robertson, Kevin (Jean Anne) Jiskra, and Sheri (Brian) LeBlanc, who remember her as a nurturing soul always ready with a comforting word or a wonderful dessert. Her seven grandchildren, Jonathan, Terrynn, Adam, Megan, Betsy, Joey, and William, will carry her legacy of kindness and joy.
An avid gardener, a master of 1000 piece puzzles, and a knack for a fridge full of snacks, Judy graced many with her talents in the kitchen. Her famous dill pickles and beet pickles as well as her cookies and buns were highlights of family/community gatherings. She also worked as a cook in the Grafton public School system for 44 years. She enjoyed volunteering at the food pantry and many church functions in Grafton.
Services to honor and celebrate the life of Judith Marie Jiskra will be held on April 16th, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at St John’s Catholic Church, located in Grafton, North Dakota. The family will hold a viewing one hour in advance. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the Meals on Wheels program or St John’s Catholic Church’s food pantry.
