CROOKSTON, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – Josh Russ Miller, age 48, of Crookston, passed away on Thursday, November 6, 2025, following a hemophilia-related medical emergency at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, with his mother by his side.
Josh was born on August 21, 1977, in Ada, Minnesota. His education took him to several schools, including Fertile-Beltrami, Washington Elementary in Crookston, Luella Merrett in Fort Worth, Ada-Borup West, and Climax-Shelly. This diverse background helped shape the well-rounded and thoughtful person he became.
Despite many health challenges, Josh met life with strength, courage, and optimism. His positive attitude inspired everyone around him. Known for his kindness, generosity, and polite nature, Josh made others feel valued in every conversation.
In his leisure time, Josh enjoyed spending time with family and friends, gaming, and cheering for the Minnesota Vikings. His adventures included traveling to New York City to see the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, the Rockettes, and even taking a helicopter flight over the skyline. Other memorable trips included visits to Disneyland, Six Flags in Arlington, and scenic journeys to Colorado, Yellowstone, and Glacier National Parks. One of his proudest moments was attending a Vikings game at U.S. Bank Stadium.
Josh is survived by his mother, Laurel Ystenes; his beloved cat, Princess Josie; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who loved him dearly. He shared a special bond with his young second cousin, Kane, spending countless hours gaming and laughing together.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ross Miller; grandparents, Russ and Janice Miller, and William and Augusta Ystenes; several uncles, aunts, cousins, and his cherished pets, Pookie, Spaz, Sabbath, and Lucky.
A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Friends and family can share memories and condolences at Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home.
Josh will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
