Joseph F. “Joe” Raymond, 87, Grand Forks, ND, passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at Altru Hospital of Grand Forks.
Joseph Francis Raymond was born January 8, 1937 in Grand Forks. He was raised and educated in East Grand Forks, MN where he graduated from Sacred Heart High School. Joe attended the University of North Dakota before serving in the U.S. Army. Following his service, Joe moved to Crookston where he worked as a bookkeeper for The International Harvester implement dealership. He also managed the IH dealership in Warren, MN. Joe later came to Grand Forks where he managed the IH dealership and eventually purchased what became Joe Raymond Inc. After selling the business to Reiten and Young Inc., he continued in sales for the company until his retirement. In retirement, he drove cars to distant locations for Ecolab.
Joe was an avid sports fan and outdoor enthusiast. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and he took great joy in spending time with his grandkids. Joe was a big fan of the Minnesota Vikings, Minnesota Twins and UND sports. He was also one of the first athletes inducted into the Sacred Heart Hall of Fame.
Joe married Claudia Olson on December 29, 1962 in St. Anne’s Catholic Church of Crookston, MN. Claudia survives along with children, Jon (Laura) Raymond, Grand Forks, Jay Raymond and Sarah Raymond, Thompson, ND and Jody Raymond, Grand Forks; grandchildren, Dan, Will, Mark, Emily (Nick), Karl (Chantel), Thomas, Annie, Shane, and Isabelle; two great grandchildren Jersey and NJ, sister, Mary Ann (Jerry) Blair, Fergus Falls, MN.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside services will be held privately. Memorials are preferred to Sacred Heart Church & School of East Grand Forks or the charity of your choice.
