Jan was born on June 17, 1943 in Grand Forks to Ray and Alvina Dubuque. She graduated from St. James High School in Grand Forks in 1961. Following high school, she graduated from nursing school in 1964.

She married Larry Wild on October 9, 1965. A year after the wedding, Jan boarded a plane to England with son, Scott in tow and spent the next couple of years living in the U.K. where Kim was born. Seven years later their third child, Brian would be born.

It would be easy to sum up her life in just four words. “Jan was a caregiver.” Not only was she one of the best nurses you could ever hope to be assigned to in the hospital, her medical prowess also touched the lives of every family member and friend she encountered. When someone was ailing, Jan was there. When it came to family, she put her own life on hold time and time again to make sure we had what we needed. When Larry was diagnosed with cancer in 2000, her nursing instincts went into high gear. She helped him enter his Eternal Glory 24 years later.

Jan’s love language was providing meals and snacks. If you accepted an offer for supper, you left the table full and with enough leftovers to cover your meals for the next few days. Like her mom, she rarely ate a warm meal because she was constantly floating around the room tending to the needs of others. Did we mention that she was a caregiver?

Mom was fiercely loyal to not just her family, but her friends. There was nothing more satisfying than a hot cup of coffee and an even hotter conversation.

She is survived by her children; Scott (Shonda), Brian (Trish) and Kim (Larry) Dockter, all of Bismarck; grandchildren; Sommer (Samuel) Hager, Katelyn (Cole) Beck, Sydney Wild, Max and Whitney Wild, Chrissy (Len) Brabandt; great-grandchildren; Riley Brabandt, Dorothea, Ramona, and Louisa Hager; and brother, Don (Michelle) Dubuque.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Larry; brother Gary; sister Jeanie, and grandson Michael.
