Janice DeLong, 83 of Goodridge, MN passed away peacefully on Monday, January 2, 2023 at her residence with her loving family by her side.
Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM with the service to celebrate Jan’s life at 5:00 PM on Sunday, January 8, 2023 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. Burial will be at Goodridge Cemetery at a later date.
Janice Rae Warne was born December 28, 1939 in Thief River Falls, MN the daughter of Raymond and Alpha (Rogers) Warne. Jan attended country school near Grygla, MN and Goodridge High School graduating with the class of 1957.
On August 2, 1958, Janice was united in marriage to Wallace “Wally” Jones at the parsonage in Goodridge, MN. They made their home in Goodridge and while Wally was serving in the United States Air Force, they also lived in Duluth, MN, and Marquette, MI. To this union seven boys were born, Gary, Harlan, Wallace Jr., Brian, Bruce, AlRay and Sherman.
She was baptized at Faith Lutheran Church in Goodridge, MN by Rev. Bruce Anderson on March 14, 1971.
In 1985, Jan took an accounting course at the AVTI in Thief River Falls.
Jan enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, watching Hallmark, cooking for family and friends, and especially enjoyed visiting with family and friends.
Jan and Wally owned and operated the Someplace Else Café and Grocery Store in Goodridge. She went on to cook at the café and supper club for many years and also worked at Walmart.
She was united in marriage to Garland Keith DeLong on February 14, 2004 at Faith Lutheran Church in Goodridge and the couple continued to reside in Goodridge.
Survivors include sons, Gary Jones, Brian Jones and Bruce Jones; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Lyle (Linda) Warne, Wayne (Sandy) Warne, Russell (Pauline) Warne, Sandy (Lloyd) Dunham, Dale (Sherry) Warne; sister-in-law, Margaret Warne; and many other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband Wallace in 1999; husband Keith in 2018; sons Harlan, Wallace Jr., AlRay, and Sherman; parents; brother Marlan Warne; sister Gayle Warne.
