James “J.B.” Aamodt, 84 of Grand Forks, ND died Sunday, April 7, 2024 at the Valley Senior Living on Coulumbia in Grand Forks.
James Buckley Aamodt was born August 12, 1939 in Grand Forks, ND the son of Einar and Lucille (Buckley) Aamodt. He graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic High School in 1957. Following graduation, Jim enlisted in the US Air Force. On June 3, 1967, Jim married Carol Ostlund at Sacred Heart of East Grand Forks. They made their home in Grand Forks and were blessed with two children. Together, they owned and operated the Donut Hole in Grand Forks for many years. Later, J.B., as he was known to many, worked in sales and drove bus until retirement. He started Sioux-Per Fans, was a Sioux Booster Board Member, a member of the EGF American Legion and VFW.
He is survived by wife Carol Aamodt of Grand Forks; daughter Kristi McDonald of Virginia Beach, VA; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; in- laws, Barb Milling and Wayne (Susan) Ostlund, daughter-in-law Angi Aamodt of Grand Forks and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Jeff Aamodt, brother William Aamodt, sister Mary Lou Mesheski, brother-in-law Brian Milling, and fur baby Lily Rose. The Aamodt family would like to thank Dr. Hannan and his cancer team for the wonderful care they gave Jim.
VISITATION: 5:00-6:30 PM with a 6:30 PM prayer service, Thursday, April 11, 2024 at Dahl Funeral Home, 2029 Central Ave. NW, East Grand Forks, MN 56721.
MEMORIAL SERVICE: 2:00 PM, Friday, April 12, 2024 also at Dahl Funeral Home, with visitation one hour prior. Service will be live-streamed on J.B.’s page at www.dandahlfuneralhome.com. Military Honors will be provided by the US Air Force, EGF American Legion Post #157 and VFV Post #3817.
