BABBIT, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – A man has been sentenced to more than 46 years in prison for a double homicide in Minnesota. Roger A. Beldo, 54, of the Iron Range, was sentenced on Monday for the second-degree murders of 78-year-old Clifford Johnson and 79-year-old Christine Johnson. Beldo, who had been living with the couple in Babbitt, Minnesota, was found guilty of bludgeoning them to death with a tire iron and hammer in October of last year.
During his sentencing, Beldo told the court, “I did not kill them,” despite having pleaded guilty to the murders in May. He received a sentence of 556 months (46 1/3 years) in prison as part of a plea agreement.
