Investigation Underway for Attempted Murder in Wahpeton, North Dakota

WAHPETON, ND (trfnews.i234.me) One man is in custody after another man was shot in the chest late Saturday afternoon in Wahpeton, North Dakota.

wapping and police are investigating an attempted murder this in from Chief Matthew Anderson on Saturday at 4 35 p.m police received a 9-1-1 call for a 34 year old male with a single gunshot wound to the chest responding officers found a male outside 1358 12th Street North and Wahpeton lying on the ground with a chest wound the male was transported to Saint Francis Medical Campus in Breckenridge and later life flighted to Fargo through statements made on the scene the victim indicated he was shot by a family member reportedly his cousin the Wahpeton Police Department issued a shelter in place for a six block radius and evacuated residence of 1358 12th Street North here officers determined someone was still inside the apartment 304 third floor and attempted to make contact Southern Valley SRT was activated and made entry into the apartment where they located John Lee Lane age 37 Lane was taken into custody and arrested for attempted murder and discharge of a firearm within the city a firearm was recovered at the scene and the shelter in place was lifted wapping and police believe this was an isolated incident and no danger to the public victim ins information is not being released Wahpeton Police Department was assisted by Richland County Sheriff’s Office Breckenridge police Wilkin County sheriff’s office semca North Dakota BCI and Southern Valley SRT I’m Neil Berg reporting for itrfnews.i234.me
