Stutsman, Barnes & Cass Counties (trfnews.i234.me) — In the aftermath of violent storms and tornadoes that swept through southeastern North Dakota on the evening of June 20, the North Dakota Highway Patrol (NDHP) has confirmed widespread damage and a tragic loss of life across the region.
Extreme wind gusts overturned multiple semi-trucks along Interstate 94, including two semis near Eckelson Lake (MM 278 westbound). Thankfully, both drivers escaped without injury.
NDHP troopers quickly responded to the scene to secure the area, manage traffic, and assist emergency crews. The highway was temporarily obstructed during the response.
NDHP and partnering agencies remain actively engaged in recovery operations, coordinating with local and state authorities to restore essential services in impacted communities.
Motorists are urged to avoid storm-damaged areas, obey detours, and follow all emergency personnel instructions.
