Individual Accepts Plea Deal in Murder-Fire Case Near Bemidji, MN in 2020

BEMIDJI, MN (trfnews.i234.me) A third person has taken a plea deal in a murder-fire case near Bemidji, Minnesota in May of 2020.
the Beltrami County Attorney’s Office in Bemidji has secured a flea deal in a May 2020 homicide County attorney David Hansen says Devin Charles Belcourt has pled guilty to committing second-degree intentional murder aiding and abetting on May 3rd 2020 the Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a gunshot and burning building on ten Grove uh 10 Gove Road in rural Beltrami County with deputies arrived they encountered one male victim BM who was suffering multiple gunshot wounds they also observed a residence engulfed in flames a BM indicated to deputies that he had been awakened by the sound of gunshots and observed of individuals running from the house into a car the individual shot at him when they saw him deputies later discovered the remains of a second male victim JM inside the residence after a thorough investigation the beltramck county the Sheriff’s Office along with the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal apprehension identified three suspects Devin Charles Belcourt Travis Earl gunning and Rebecca Elizabeth lockman Belcourt entered his guilty plea before The Honorable Sherry to schultzer during The Plea hearing Belcourt admitted an open court that he gunning and lockman intended to Rob JM and that his death was a foreseeable result of that robbery a sentencing hearing will be held April 26 of 2023 lochman and gunning have already pled guilty to their respective roles in this heinous crime County attorney Hanson sent us a condolences to the family of JM as well as his sympathy to BM County attorney Hanson I’d like to thank all the hard-working members of the Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office Minnesota BCA for their excellent investigation in this matter that led to the capture and can convictions of Belcourt gunning and lockman Hanson I’d also like to thank the staff the Beltrami County Attorney’s Office who put in many hours on this matter specifically Chief assistant County attorney David Frank assistant attorneys Wesley van erert and Michael Mullen Legal Assistant Ashley Cornelius office manager Karen Gebhardt and victim services coordinator Riley Irish County attorney Hanson would also like to thank Clearwater County attorney Catherine lorsbach and Hubbard County attorney Jonathan frieden who together prosecuted the case against Travis gunning I’m Neil Berg reporting for itrfnews.i234.me
