Identification of UND Aviation Student Killed in Crash and Update on Crash Investigation

GRAND FORKS, ND (trfnews.i234.me) University of North Dakota officials have released the name of an aviation student killed in a plane crash Monday night. And we have the latest on the investigation into the crash.
the university of north dakota has identified the victim of that fatal plane crash south of grand forks monday night as john hauser a student majoring in commercial aviation from chicago illinois this from und quote we extend our heartfelt felt condolences to john’s family friends classmates and fraternity brothers they are all in our thoughts and prayer a loss of a member of our und community affects us all the university is here to support students who would like counseling assistance university counseling center staff members are available for crisis sessions anytime monday through friday 8 to 4 30 p.m in addition representatives from the counseling center will be available in ryan hall room 207 for the remainder of this week for anyone who would like to talk with them please call triple 7 2127 to schedule an appointment university counseling center will accommodate students needs for service on a case-by-case needs again the victim of that plane crash southeast of buxton monday evening und commercial aviation student john hauser of chicago illinois uh more details according to david dodd’s umd spokesperson more details regarding the crash will be released from the faa and ntsb here’s what we know about the crash so far from our earlier report here’s the latest on that crash that killed a und aviation student monday night this is a 21 miles south of grand forks or uh southeast of buxton north dakota the highway patrol says at 8 30 monday night a und plane crashed here in this field the pilot was a und student the pilot suffered fatal injuries during the crash and was pronounced deceased on the scene the crash remains under investigation by the north dakota highway patrol and faa with the assistance of the trail county sheriff’s office the name of the pilot will be released pending notification of his family now an aircraft expert tells me this is believed to be a trace of that flight that crashed you can see here on top of his flying south from grand forks and turned back north to where the flight uh then went down uh the plane this uh top line here was flying at around 3 500 feet and then all of a sudden the trace stops i’m told uh that would happen if the plane just uh basically nosedive to the ground you can see here at the same time the speed is going along with the plane and then all of a sudden when it drops off the speed dramatically it picks up so as we said this is all under investigation uh no word yet on exactly what caused this some catastrophic failure or exactly what happened we’ll keep you updated i’m Neil Berg reporting for trfnews.i234.me

  1. It was a suicide. Someone I know was in the air with his instructor while it was happening and heard on the radio the student saying "this life is not worth living" and shortly after they cut his radio so he and his instructor wouldn't hear it and they were instructed to detour since they were heading to that area.
