Ida Sophia Morris, of Englewood, Florida, and Shakopee, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2026, at St. Gertrude’s Nursing Home in Shakopee, Minnesota, following a courageous battle with cancer. She was 92 years old.
Born on October 28, 1933, in Nekoma, North Dakota, Ida graduated from the University of North Dakota in 1955 with a degree in education and a bachelor’s in teaching. During her time at UND, she was actively involved in Penates, Phi Upsilon Omicron, and Future Teachers of America.
Ida taught Home Economics in Lancaster, Minnesota; served as a stewardess for Northwest Airlines based in Minneapolis; and worked for Northern States Power (now Xcel Energy). She later devoted herself to being a homemaker and member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Grand Forks, North Dakota.
On August 3, 1958, Ida married William Charles Morris III at Nekoma Lutheran Church in Nekoma, North Dakota. Together she and Bill raised a wonderful family: daughter Julie Bau of Farmington, MN; son John Morris of Shakopee, MN; and grandchildren Kailey Bau of Mankato, MN; Brooklyn (Brooke) Bau of Winona, MN; Alexandra (Lexi) Morris of Minneapolis, MN; and Jack Morris of Spartanburg, SC.
Ida was predeceased by her parents, husband and brothers Iver Johnson and Albert Johnson. She and Bill cherished splitting their time between their lake home on Turtle River Lake near Bemidji, Minnesota (later in Shakopee, MN), and Englewood, Florida.
A family celebration of life will be held on their wedding anniversary at Calvary Lutheran Church in Grand Forks, North Dakota.
