Ice Fishermen Rescued on Upper Red Lake Sunday Night: Dozens Saved

UPPER RED LAKE, MN (trfnews.i234.me) Emergency responders had to rescue dozens of ice fishermen Sunday night after ice shifted and open water appeared between them and the resort on Upper Red Lake Sunday night.
dozens of ice fishermen rescued on upper Red Lake Sunday evening uh this uh happened after uh wind shifted the ice and Open Water uh appeared between ice fishermen and the Red Lake remote Resort the initial call said there were about 15 fishermen stranded later uh the uh emergency manager for Beltrami County says there were as many as 40 to 50 people stranded out on the ice this all started around 5:00 p.m. on Sunday and I got a call from a resort on the NorthShore that’s got some Open Water they got about 15 people stranded on the other side of it and they’re looking for us to head up and help and in the dark emergency responders use airboats to get all those ice fishermen safely back to shore um I spoke with a person up at the resort last night who said those ice fishermen are going to have to leave their equipment out on the ice last night and they’ll be likely be able to pick it up today at 400 am this morning the temperature up uh on Red Lake upper Red Lake is at 7 degrees so ice conditions are likely stiffening up but uh everyone okay after another ice ice rescue on Red Lake I’m Neil Berg reporting for I trfnews.i234.me
