HOURS-LONG STANDOFF & HOSTAGE SITUATION IN BURNSVILLE, MN ENDS IN ARREST

Burnsville, Minnesota (trfnews.i234.me) – A mental health crisis and domestic assault incident escalated into a tense hours-long standoff and hostage situation in Burnsville on Sunday afternoon.

Authorities responded to the 1800 block of Country View Drive shortly before 4:45 p.m., prompting police to lock down the area, close parts of County Road 11, and issue a shelter-in-place alert for nearby residents.

According to emergency radio dispatches, a male suspect refused to exit the home while holding two children inside. One child managed to escape early, while law enforcement negotiators worked for several hours to ensure the safety of the second child.

Suspect Was Armed & Wanted on Multiple Charges

Reports indicate that the suspect was already wanted on charges of:
✔️ Domestic strangulation
✔️ Domestic assault
✔️ Malicious punishment of a child

Authorities also warned that he had access to both a pistol and a hunting bow.

Heavy Law Enforcement Presence & Tactical Support

The scene saw a massive police response, including officers from Bloomington, Eagan, South St. Paul, and Rosemount Police Departments. Specialized units brought in:

After intense negotiations, the suspect was taken into custody just before 8 p.m., and both children were confirmed safe. Authorities lifted the shelter-in-place order soon after, assuring residents that the situation had been resolved peacefully.

The suspect’s identity has not yet been released, and formal charges are expected in the coming days.
