back in may we told you how this stairwell by the back loading dock of the now vacant Federal Building in downtown Bemidji had become an encampment for homeless people well it still is this is video from this morning Monday morning August 15 2022 it appears the garbage has been bagged up with this man sleeping by it I was told by police chief Mike Mastin in May it’s private property so it’s up to the owners to request police move trespassers along the owners were aware of the situation that apparently still hasn’t changed I’m Neil Berg reporting for itrfnews.i234.me

  1. I think it's funny.
The police department is kitty corner to this building, the courthouse is right across the street to the North and the county jail is on the other end of the block to the north of the courthouse.
Beltrami county health and human services is on the same block as the police station to the west and Housing Matters is in the same building as health and human services.
It don't get no better than this.
The Very agencies claiming to be there to help the homeless are direct neighbors to this building and they all act like the don't see it.

  2. I met some pretty cool homeless people in bemidji, pretty helpful compared to the people that have jobs/homes/ and vehicles. Maybe one day, they’ll have a place to call home, but for now, I hope that they’ll survive another day 🖤 because I know, I can be in their spot if it wasn’t for the willingness of my people to help me 🕊
