Minneapolis, Minnesota (trfnews.i234.me) — In the early hours of Wednesday, May 7, 2025, a significant fire broke out at the historic building that once housed the Whiskey Junction bar, located at 901 Cedar Avenue South in Minneapolis. Firefighters were dispatched shortly after 12:30 a.m. and encountered smoke and flames emanating from the rear of the building.
Upon entering, crews discovered that the fire had spread to the second floor and was advancing into the roof. Due to the rapid progression, a second alarm was called to summon additional resources. Firefighters utilized ladder trucks to access the roof, which had become unstable from the damage. They worked diligently to extinguish hot spots and ensure the fire was fully suppressed.
No individuals were found inside the building, and it was confirmed that the establishment was closed at the time of the incident. However, one firefighter was evaluated for possible overexertion and transported to a local hospital for further assessment. No other injuries have been reported.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. The Whiskey Junction, a beloved music venue and bar, had been a staple in the Minneapolis community for decades before closing in 2017.
